Broken braces
If you are a patient of Pure Orthodontics, and are having problems with your orthodontic appliance (brace) outside our normal working hours, here are some tips:
- You can take out a removable brace and keep it in a safe place until you can contact us.
- Loose brackets on a fixed brace rarely cause urgent problems, so contact the surgery during opening hours for advice.
- Sharp pieces of wire on a fixed brace can be temporarily covered with a piece of cotton wool or softened chewing gum. Please get in touch during working hours so we can deal with your problem. If the problem cannot wait until then, an emergency NHS Out of Hours service is available in the evening and at weekends and bank holidays. They can be contacted by phone on 111.
